we will find out soon - if these 40,000 national guard don't start blowing them away tomorrow, we'll know.
Did that really happen?! If it did, it's less that human.
Before any Hurricane Police depts and Municipal Governments offer its citizens rides to shelters. Those in the most vulnerable areas are warned several times by phone and another time by going door to door. I do not know what the procedure is for New Orleans , but they are much more vulnerable there than even Miami Beach, if they do not have this procedure, I would love to know their excuse.
Florida is used to hurricanes; NO hasn't had one for decades.
A guy on H&C tonight said he had nothing but good things to say about the Navy, etc... it was the 'lack' of other officials that is/was the problem... he said the military is doing a great job....unfortunatly they can't do security.
I was responding to the sentiment in which someone else posted that. And probably tongue-in-cheek.
I can't get it to play.
can you tell me about it?
Kind of proves that people are not "inherently good"...
You bet I responsed the same way. You people are INTERJECTING ASSUMPTIONS into my posts. The other poster tried to claim I was writing off the other devastation. There is no basis for making that kind of post to me.
Once again, those people crying over their possessions in MS. should THANK GOD they are not in NO or in the Superdome experiencing multiple rapes, multiple murders, and horrendous conditions.
Now why don't you go ask them if they would prefer to be where they are or in the Superdome.
Where'd that story come from? Don't think the National Guard is allowed to take care of incidents, even if there were millions of them. How can they deal with incidents if they can't shoot?
#1 I hope to God they are assigned to a NG unit. Despite the horrific conditions posse comitatus is an important principal in assuring our freedom. (Yes, even under conditions of martial law I prefer that units assigned to direct security operations be NG units attached even in name only to a state.)
#2 I hope that they can back them up quickly with a significant presence of visible ground units providing a secure corridor for evacuating refugees.
And that's my two cents on the use of troops.
Prior to break:
Joe Scarbo: "And just in, there is word the NG is moving in. Finally, the people will get the government [protection] they deserve. "
I have never seen more than 2 minutes of Joe Scarbo. This has clinched it.
I work for a WF subsidiary and was very disappointed in their choices of the RC and UW. I had already given to the Salvation Army and would have given again to get their matching dollars had they chosen different organizations.
How many millions will Jesse hand over? He's found money in his organization to use to pay his child support.
This has to be at least as deserving.
Stomach turning, prayers up.
Oh, that's just soooooooooo sad! I was so hoping she was safe. Now I'll be crying all over again. What a dear, dear man!
I know they've got to prioritize as far as saving human life during a scope of this magnitude, but I've got four kids, and imagining them without their home or anything, and having their beloved pet ripped from their arms after hellish days...I'm just sick.
We donated to the Salvation Army, but that doesn't sound like much for a hundred bucks. They can forget the brooms, etc., those houses are beyond cleaning. I can buy two cases of water at my local grocery for 12 bucks and I can feed a family of four for two days for 40 bucks (a lot less, really, but if we're talking convenience foods.) Hopefully the excess is going to stock the canteens, and I have seen many SA canteens in New Orleans at those staging areas outside the city.
Wait, the Senate is back in session????
This can't be true...the Governor said all those reports were false.
