Here's a question I'll bet no one can answer off the top of their head. Who's the commander of the Louisiana National Guard? I haven't seen him/her yet.

Most Americans, most media, have no idea that the National Guard, under these circumstances are under the control of the governor. They keep blaming the President for not sending in the National Guard.

Then there's the posse comitatus issue, which I'm not 100 percent clear on in a national emergency, but I believe this is why the Army has not been sent in en masse to restore order (there is an Insurrection Act which I think the Governor can request.)

Anyway, my point is, the American people believe what the media tells them and the media don't even know the basics of civics or laws about state versus federal responsibilities and rights.

That being said, I really think that in the case of snipers, the LA Governor does not want to be the one to have to deal with the snipers/thugs through the NG or State Police, nor does the mayor want to deal with the snipers through his police force.

I think they'll wait till things are so bad that the Army does have to go in and take out the snipers so that they can't be blamed for the killings of these thugs...I think they're afraid of racial implications.

Just my 2 cents.

My Butt.
Shep should get all the Fox local helicopters to drop bottles of water to his location.
He wouldn't have to share anymore.

Sorry, like I said, the only one doing anything more than talking is Hannity. The FReepers get on him all the time. I can take him or leave him.

Til now.

i have no idea where the manpower went, sadly many are probably dead. others are probably looking after their families..

in any event it is bad when terrified cops are "defending" their precinct building throughout the night....

it's like a Steven King novel

now the hospital guy on FOX, talking of superdome "numerous murders, suicides, gang rapes, no resources to deal with it" No security, refuses to go back to superdome...too dangerous

It's different from Florida after a hurricane. You can't operate too well in a city that's 80% submergef, with one road leading in/out of a city, and a legion of Bloods and Crips shooting at rescuers.

Didn't Biloxi get hit too?
They are not in as bad of shape, are they?

If by "not in as bad of shape", you mean "not flooded out and overrun with reporters," you got it. Pretty much everything within a half-mile to 2 miles of the Mississippi coast was wiped out.

How about the mother than handed her infant over to a stranger and begged her to just take good care of her... it was a reporter -- I think MSNBC.

It was reported early that they were told to bring food and water for a couple of days, it was a "shelter of last resort", meaning nothing was going to be there.

We had relief available on the ground in Thailand to the survivors in less than 96 hours? Cite your cource.

This storm hit Monday ... Monday. And at that time a LOT of people believed that NOLA had survived. As I type this we are only 87 hours from landfall. It didn't get really bad until Tuesday - about 6o hours ago. Today is Thursday. And even with that, many many thousands of people have been evacuated, and many more have been provided supplies.

Yes, there remains a lot of work to do. But 48 hours after the tsunami hit there were NOT thousands of people already evacuated from the dnagerous areas and being fed warm meals.

There were also not thousands upon thousands of people partying in the streets knowing a killer storm was on the way and ignoring the government's order to seek shelter. (Yes, I know, many hadn't the capability to leave, but the vast majority of those who stayed did so of their own accord.)

AND - there was not the same level of dangerous situation with hundreds of thugs posing a direct threat to the emergency personnel.

Too bad the media's efforts to turn this into Bush's fault will not save Blanco, and the other Dems from their actions in LA. Their citizens are going to make them pay and the MSM cannot stave that off.

Have you seen anything about Jackie? I remember seeing her on Sunday and thinking about what a wonderful person she is. I have been praying for her ever since. I do so hope that she is okay. I wish I could find her and offer her a place to stay for as long as she needs it.

"It took less time to secure Faluja"

No wonder your expectations are so unrealistic. You seem to have a habit of just making things up. We went into Fallujah on 8 Nov. A month later we were still rooting out terrorists.

Try emailing Fox I guess. That poor kid. You cold try getting ahold of the animal rights groups ect and see if one of them has a team down there that might be able to locate the dog and reunite it with the child.

"And to think I was getting flamed on the earlier versions of this thread back on Monday when I suggested that the folks lined up waiting to enter reminded me of passengers boarding the Titanic!"

from what I hear, there was enough supplies in the SD for a single game. Unless there was rationing going on that means that stuff was gone in about 4 hours 8 at the max. If the rationed they might have made it 24 hours. They started putting people in there the night of the storm.

If rumors are true they brought in Army Rations on the beginning of the second day and that was for 10k people by day two of the aftermath they were approaching twice that number and had not got much more in the way of supplies.

Add to that they had no plan in place to deal with plumbing and the removal of human waste.

Listening now and the Doctor guy that was in the SD said there was no medical supplies to work with and he will not go back till they guarantee safety. He talked about the murders and rapes inside the Super Dome.

Yeah the Genius who sent those folks there without any logistics help and security is gonna get raked over the coals!

numerous rapes? Is that what he said? He's not going back until he's certain he won't become a victim. I can't blame him a bit.

It's just appalling that these people were put in the SD with more added over the last couple of days with the city having no plan to keep the peace, at least no willingness to enforce such a plan.

Just ridiculous.

Sec. Chertoff is on CNN and he's really spinning this badly. He's essentially saying that FEMA is struggling because of the unprecedented scale of the disaster...a catastrophic flood in a major US city and
hurricane damage along the gulf coast.

Sorry, this is a load of BS. It's not like this result wasn't predicted in the wake of a cat4/5. It was predicted up to a year before the actual event. The feds have really dropped the ball. Five days after the event
people are still being raped, bodies still rotting, looters still looting and people still dying in public. And don't give any excuses about local incompetence hindering efforts. Thats a cop-out. Given local
incompetence, the Feds should have been in override mode from the moment Blanco started having a breakdown on live TV.

This is a huge debacle on every level. "

No, just on your level. You know, that special place you retreat to where the storm hit on Saturday, "5 days" ago.

In the world the rest of us live in the storm hit Monday, and if you don't know what the standard response time is for hurricane assistance, then perhaps you're better off in your other world.
