Nobody's in charge in NO. Ray Hagin, the mayor, is sitting up in Baton Rouge, sipping iced tea in an air-conditioned command center while his cops try to hold off armed thugs.
And armed-chair quarterbacks on FR, getting their information from Anderson Cooper, railing at FEMA for not air-dropping water and food.
Now we've got Steve Harrigan on FOXNEWS bellyaching about people "out in the open no food, no water, angry, not getting what they expected."
It's a damned disaster, people!!
I've about had it with the MSM looking over the shoulders of people who are getting shot at and second-guessing every damned thing they do!!
Populism at its worst, which is EXACTLY why the citizens of NO have civil authorities that they do.
Liberal populism wins elections.
I'm not railing at FEMA; I understand that there would be logistical problems getting massive quantities of water there and do a huge drop at the Convention Center.
But maybe some targeted drops of bottled water to people in isolated places, or maybe even the Guard handing out water purification tablets to the people at the CC; these people have had nothing at all, not even any kind of announcement about what was going on. There'll be a riot there sooner, not later.
Also, I'd like to point out that yes, the food/water/equipment drops in the tsunami occurred two weeks after the event, but that occurred halfway around the world. This is in our own backyard.
