I would say that what you see before your eyes is the true nature of uncivilized people controlling the few civilized people left in a natural disaster.

Marx maintained it as well - typical Enlightenment thinking. Anarchy like this really puts the nail in the coffin of that idea, IMO.
I think we are seeing Rosseau's natural man in his natural state, left to do as he pleases.
