I'm thoroughly confused what the heck is going on over at the Superdome and Convention Center. What is the hold up on getting buses,food/water, and armed guards there.
I'm hearing on the news that people are dying over there with no help... people are dying... getting sick, etc... There is no sign of relief there at all. Confusing.

When the water is nearly pumped out, and hundreds of corpses are laying there, do you want them to hide that as well? This is a disaster, and there are probably thousands dead. A good dose of reality won't hurt, especially those who think they can just "ride out the storm at home". If it offends you, just get over it! Change channels!

Sheperd Smith has done more to save lives than any other reporter down there, actually reporting the location of the hundreds who were being ignored on the bridge, helping to save an infant, etc. Give him a bit of credit here. I think he deserves an award for his coverage, actually.

He's a little too cutesy for me. I'm not his biggest fan, but I'll watch him sometimes. But what do you expect from most of these talking heads...all that's missing is the blonde hair.

That doesn't bother me. It's reality.

What does me bothers me is Shep harassing officers and basically losing his cool. He needs to calm down.

The difference between real journalism and tabloid reporting couldn't be more clear than the end of Special Report with Brit Hume and The Fox Report with Shepard Smith. I usually change the channel unless someone else is hosting.

No, I feel that Shep is one of the best young newsmen in the business.

This is not fanatsyland in the gul region. This is reality and Shep is reporting it. You can't candy-coat the reality of this disaster.

So he should suger coat the situation and deny that people are dying even as they try to escape?
Or he should report that they are there yet offer no proof of his facts?

It's a horrible and devastating scene. Reporting the facts and showing the raw footage is not a problem from where I sit.

Personally, I don't think the networks should have 'saved us' from the horrors of 9-11 as they did. Perhaps if the reality of that situation had been known then people wouldn't have so easily forgotten.

I think America ought to see the GOOD the BAD and the UGLY of ourselves.

I saw that. I think it was done appropriately and it brought a good dose of reality to the situation.

IF anyone is listening to Todd Scnitt on the radio---he just said that 3 confirmations from New Orleans is that the city ordered 75,000 body bags....and people are dropping dead from dehydration.......

Schnitt is so mad---he says in todays world, there is no reason why there is still chaos and lack of food, water and medication .

Shep has become emotionally involved there, but hopefully he can get his head on straight and ask the "right" questions.

It was done with dignity. Personally I'm impressed with Shepard Smith's coverage of the disaster. What bothers me are the lingering cameras on the faces of the people in shelters, waiting for help, etc. They have been through hell, they should be allowed some privacy anyway.

I have to commend him for sticking it out in this war zone as long as he has. But sometimes, I think he's eating with just one chopstick.

Even before I read your comment I was thinking this about Shep...a sickeing and strangely disgusting man.

Vain and self absorbed to the point of ridiculousness.

It is called NEWS.

In TV, you show pictures.

Deal with it.

It isn't grandstanding.

The bodies should be shown so that the country can get a grasp of the situation. Hiding the truth only hurts us in the end.

Shephard is from that area, and I think it's getting to him. They ought to drag him away and let him recover.

I saw it at lunch. Sheppard was quite excited to show the footage of the poor soul who died and was left on the road.

It could be argued that the reality of this needs to be driven home to the rest of us.

Sheppard's handling of the situation was clumsy, and without grace. I have no respect for the man.

Guess I'm the odd man out, I don't love Shep but he isn't on my sh#$%t list either.

If the camera man starts panning around to avoid the truth and paint a Rosy picture I will get an attitude.
