Warning As Mobs Get Bolder
The New York Post ^ | September 1, 2005 | Kevin McGill

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor Ray Nagin ordered 1,500 police officers to leave their search-and-rescue mission last night and return to the streets to stop looting that has turned increasingly hostile as the city plunges deeper into chaos.

"They are starting to get closer to heavily populated areas — hotels, hospitals — and we're going to stop it right now," Nagin said.

The number of officers called off the search-and-rescue mission amounts to virtually the entire police force in New Orleans.

The out-of-control thievery had escalated while cops joined National Guardsmen in focusing on saving lives.

In some cases, New Orleans police officers took part in the looting. One cop was seen carting off a computer and a 27-inch flat-screen TV, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Earlier yesterday, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blan- co said she has asked the White House to send more people to help with evacuations and rescues, thereby freeing up National Guardsmen to stop looters.

The looting got worse as people brazenly ran- sacked stores for food, beer, clothing, appliances — and guns.

There have been some citizen-vs.-criminal standoffs, with one shopkeeper posting an ominous sign: "You loot, I shoot."

If you say so. Using the word "fat" to describe the insurance settlement seemed to indicate a mindset sympathetic to the looters.

Looters are stealing from the either the shopowner, his insurer, or me, as an insurance premium payer. None of us "deserve" it.

Bob Sheiffer on CBS at their top of the hour break reported that evacuating of the Dome had to be halted because people were taking shots at the rescue copters.

Uncivilized barbarians.

I googled "New Orleans police car" for an image to photoshop with your "You Loot, We Shoot" motto.

I found this:

It doesn't help much to have a weepy weak Governor at a time like this. She should step down for being incompetent and let a strong personality take over. She reminds me of people I have seen who want the office, but buckle under its responsibilities when the going gets tough. (BTW see post 94)

It is an inherent weakness in liberals to be wary of using force. In a time of natural disaster, force is a savior, weakness brings on the holocaust.

(BTW see post 94)

Kind of like the Taliban. With no strong government in control, the warlords take over.

yep.

You reinforce or reward a behavior and you practically guarantee an increase in that behavior.

"But at least the hand wringers got to feel good about their situational ethics."

Sums it up very well flashbunny. Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.

Man, that sounds nasty.
Shouldn't I try to understand the intruder first? Maybe if I knew what made him tick I would be a richer person for having known him personally.

Just kidding. BLAM!
Honestly, if you do just wound someone you are taking a huge risk. They have another weapon or a friend backing them up and you are the next victim. Not to mention if they go to prison and come after you when they get out.

As a Christian I would struggle with this morally for at least a few minutes.

Yeah but they have to replace it with $71/bbl gas. In that business you have to charge for the next tank load, not the last one.

The oil is bought on contract MONTHS in advance. Look at the prices in the newspaper and you'll see October, November, December, January, etc contract prices. How else can the oil companies be swimming in record profits if not for the fact that they are jacking with the prices based on the population's ignorance.

This is why I am bothered that Bush gave up strategic reserves that are pegged at $28 per barrel. That's a freakin wetdream for the SISTERS.

Give me your T.V. It's okay, your insurance will cover it.

What's that? Your insurance rates will skyrocket? Not my problem.

Exactly, now vizulize the following: Hordes of 3rd world'ers pouring across the border, millions already here, different values, hatred for those who have it, highly emotional with a penchant for violence, guns everywhere, dope everywhere, an existing society riddled with crying, hand wringing whiners -- "why can't we all get along"? - group hugs, counceling, that'll fix it! What a pathetic, naive, gutless society we've become, we deserve the anarchy that is sure to come. E-mail, write or call your Reps, show 'em your anger, demand action or demand resignations!

Lethal force can only be used to protect yourself from harm.

That's not even CLOSE to being correct.

"And if we did find it necessary to Loot some food and water after a few days with none, WE SURE AS HELL WOULD NOT have started looted clothing stores while it was still raining. It is pure and simple thievery and defending it is baseless. "

Yesterday my 14 year old daughter asked what I would do if we ran out of food. I told her, "if I had to, I would go into the store, write a list of all that I took along with the price, leave my name, address, phone number on the list and place it where the owners of the store would find it.

A very simple solution to properly feed my family and not stick it to the store owner/owners.
