This is a confession. I have been a registered dem for 8 years. I consider myself conservative in the sense that I believe that hard work and love of country will take you far. I am an atheist, but have felt the presence of a higher force. I think politicians are useless people. I was born in India, but when my family moved here, I was taken care of by rednecks in the deep south. There is a divine force that guides this country. And I am tired of my friends in New York whose first reflexive reaction in life is to blame my country for all the problems of the world. So I will leave the Democratic party. I won't join the Republicans. I will only vote for men like Andrew Jackson, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Ronald Reagan.
Andrew Jackson was an embarrasement IMHO
It's not very nice of him to call those who cared for him "rednecks"
Truman was a son of corruption, the Senator from Prendergast, and, although he was from my state, his entire reputation as a ''great'' president rests with his decision to nuke the Japs. A good decision it was, too, and he deserves huge credit for it, but the rest of his presidency was a shambles.
If you want to add a third one, add Madison. With a nation completely fractured, generally NE vs. the rest, with talk of secession in Conn. and Mass., with the Regress unwilling to enact any tax whatever to fund the war effort (War of 1812, for those from Rio Linda), with a treasury in a very nearly catastrophic state after Jefferson's, er, indifference to and ineffectuality at properly managing the budget...nonetheless, and w/o violating the Constitution in any way or form, Madison's administration managed to drive the British from our shores, quell the secessionist talk, and get the finances of the Republic into a far more reasonable state than formerly.
I won't even mention the obvious fact that, virtually alone among presidents bar Coolidge, he kept true to his inaugural oath.
How odd, btw, that in 1814 the potential secessionists were from NE, and 40-odd years later they were in the Southern states. Hmmm...
"I want instant gratification"
You are right on as to that. I have heard some of those in NO bitching about being uncomfortable (but alive) and recieving little or no help, this after wading through the water pushing the dead out of their way.
I am an atheist, but have felt the presence of a higher force.
So that means you were an atheist, right?
Nothing personal but most atheists don't know the meaning of the word. They're usually just pissed off at their parent's church.
"Republican=Conservative"
As evidenced by the ever expanding government under a Republican President and Congress?
