Earlier today, I saw a bunch of FR posts decrying "evil oil companies" that are "price gouging" to get "obscene profits."
I'm afraid a lot of Freepers would be with Michael on this one.

There is nothing that rations stocks to highest use or invests in increased production more efficiently than pricing.
This will not work, and will bring us back to gas lines.
This will work:
1. Allow building of new refineries and expansion of existing refineries. Get the extremists in EPA out of the way.
2. Until these new refineries are built, suspend the "boutique blends" of gasoline so that any 87 octane can be pipelined anyplace.
3. Fire the anti-nuke types in the NRC. Yes, there has to be safeguards and compliance in the plants, but there are a lot of NRC administration types who are openly anti-nuclear power.
4. Revoke the Jimmy Carter executive order prohibiting the re-processing of civilian spent nuclear fuel. Bring in the vitrification process for the fission fractions as proven at the DOE West Valley Demonstration Project. There are a lot of spent fuel rods sitting in fuel pools at power plants that have useful fuel that just needs to be recovered.
5. Defeat Harry Reid so that the glass logs from item 4 can be sent to Yucca Mountain.

I actually agree with him today, but not about the price caps. I thought the President's speech was rather weak, and he really should have answered questions. I think it would have gone a long way towards comforting people. He seemed distant today.
Maybe Michael Savage ought to do what Richard Nixon did...

My response is: $4 gasoline - bring it on! It's what we need to shock us into drilling in the ANWR and getting rid of Luddite restrictions on nuclear power.
