I've noticed that people tend to ignore the back roads also. The interstate near us is being repaired (again) and we just hop on those back roads and watch them all as they poke along. Plus you can end up with some pretty nice scenery.

Ok we need a back roads ping list (but I'm too techno challenged to set that up). My wife and I try to go as much as possible on "Back Roads" trips. See more and get there just as fast. I left New Orleans a few years ago and got to central Texas with only a few suburban miles on IH 10.
