Broke my heart. They were trying to be strong, but you could tell these ladies were scared for their lives, not from the floodwaters, but from the armed thugs roaming the city that have pillaged other hospitals and taken staff hostage. What are they going to do when their generator goes out (praying for a miracle like the widow's lamp oil) and they're in the dark? Thank God their phone line works (for the moment, as long as the generator is up) so they could share their plight.

That phone call was among the worst I have heard in my life. You could tell she was trying to be strong and professional and you could hear the cracking in her voice. When the woman reporter said to her "I am a mother too", I was crying. Such courage those people have, such honor and nobility, to stay on and care for sick people under those conditions.

Lord have mercy on these people.
