Have we seen anything from the southernmost areas of LA..where the storm first hit?
The only thing I've heard is on WWL yesterday from the Plaqueminnes Parish president who said the levys were breached and the southern tip of the parish was "gone" and the river "reclaimed" the areas on either side of the river.
Pull up a map of LA and draw a straight line between Grand Isle and Venice. That is just about the new course of the Mississippi River. There is not much left of southern LA.

Terrible destruction in the area south of New Orleans
Earlier today, a report from a resident of the barrier island, (Grand Isle?). They think all 1200 residents evacuated or survived, although some had to do so in trees.
