Someone on a previous version of this thread predicted that would happen. Can't remember who though...but he/she said that CNN typically starts out strong during disasters, then 48 hours into it, becomes increasinly partisan.
I looked at a fresh sattelite pic yesteday and it looked like there was almost no land left in lower plaquemines except along the river levee. Time to breach that levee if that's true. Nothing left to save.
I don't like Cajun food either.
And of the cities you mentioned, I hear DC is especially dangerous.
I've had more immediate safety concerns in Philadelphia, D.C., Prague, Rome and Amsterdam than in all my travels to NOLA.
Thanks for current news postings.
Can't imagine the death toll down there, with all the poverty. I predict this death toll will rise above that of Galveston.
On WWL they were talking to a police officer and he said their biggest problem is there is no central command post and no communication between officers. Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco are the reason that all this looting is continuing. They are both inept and the blame for this mess is at their feet.
Is that Miles O'Brien or Miles Brand? I can't tell the difference. </sarcasm>
Guess Jindall is learning the hard way that the once a RINO/Pubbie starts to get positive presstitute attention for bashing other Pubbies, once those words stop, those same presstitutes will once again turn hateful.
Mayor and governor are toast...It wouldn't surprise me to see Landrieu resign her Senate seat to run for governor..
Here is a link to a series of before and after pictures. Very interesting to see.

Ditto.
Bulldog6 to Bulldog3 - moving HumVees to Hyatt . . .
From scanner: As buses arrive, we will evac Dome on those buses. it is getting more difficult to get to the buses. plan is now a walking plan to those buses, security is not good, but we will get people to buses, unsure of success, over?
Sadly, I have been stuck with nothing but CNN at home through all this and I've had to mute the volume a bunch of times. They're all trying to get their digs in....the president should have have acted faster (BEFORE the hurricane isn't fast enough?), the government should do something, the military isn't being sent in quickly enough, etc. And I could've sworn I heard Gollum . Serpenthead. Carville, in talking about the relief efforts, say something about the religious "characters" getting in there and helping out....or something to that effect. I was trying to get ready for work, so I may have misunderstood, but it wouldn't surprise me. I am just so over these pod people who pass themselves off as leaders and journalists. I don't know why ANYBODY takes them seriously.
On a somewhat lighter note, anyone else surprised that not one of the news nets is using the old Jim Croce song.."City of New Orleans?"
Galveston lost about 6,000 in the great storm. It will be a true horror of mismanagement if it tops that.
Where the gov't failed is partly on the evacuation side, and to a large extent on the side of being completely unprepared to answer "what's the worst that could happen?" It's not like this failure mode was unexpected. They just weren't able to respond when it happened.
is that working for you, are you staying connected?
Hey good morning! Wow, what a coincidence. :) Thanks for the info, hopefully we are talking about the same party.
