well, I can say that God has better foresight than all of us who were mad about him moving the team.

8:01 A.M. - St. Tammany spokesperson: All routes from the Northshore to Metairie and New Orleans are closed. People are trying to get to those areas through the Northshore and are running out of fuel.
7:46 A.M. - St. Tammany spokesperson: No emergency worker or parish official or law enforcement official was hurt during the storm.
7:45 A.M. - St. Tammany spokesperson: People trying to return are getting stuck in parish because there is no fuel to get out.
7:44 A.M. - St. Tammany spokesperson: Every building in Madisonville had water inside.
7:37 A.M. - (AP) The evacuation of the Superdome was suspended Thursday after shots were fired at a military helicopter, an ambulance official overseeing the operation said. No immediate injuries were reported.
"We have suspended operations until they gain control of the Superdome," said Richard Zeuschlag, head of Acadian Ambulance, which was handling the evacuation of sick and injured people from the Superdome.
He said that military would not fly out of the Superdome either because of the gunfire and that the National Guard told him that it was sending 100 military police officers to gain control.
"That's not enough," Zeuschlag. "We need a thousand."
Later report from Jeff Goldblatt said that special transport had been sent in to take those parents out. But they weren't taking the "left behind" parents to Houston, but to another place where they could then find a way to Houston.
One story was of the little boy that had just had a bone marrow transport and had to be air evaced with his mother holding on the his medical equipment as they were lifted up to the chopper.
Steve Malxberg is hosting for Tony Snow today - he is about to interview Jeff Goldblatt now
She's probably getting frantic calls from Howard Dean once an hour, saying things like, "Don't invite the military in - it gives Bush a win on the issue!" and "Don't let the National Guard shoot any black looters - we can't afford to have the Democratic Party associated with those TV images!"
No doubt she is incompetent, but as a Democrat, she isn't really free to take decisive action even if she wanted to.
I'm sure that the investigations will show that NO and LA had very elaborate plans in place, too. The difference between them and Jeb Bush is that the LA folks had no idea how to actually implement their plans.
As we've already seen, they have fools in leadership positions, and the "action" slots were probably patronage jobs, which means that there were incompetents there, too.
This stuff built up over decades, though -- it'd be really tough to lay blame only on the current state and local governments.
I am afraid it will be something approaching the Galveston Storm....
Well, maybe today they will realise that a military type action is necessary.
They evidently stopped searching them as the crowds grew, to speed up entry into the Superdome.
Are they searching them before they bus them to Texas?
Setting up a perimeter around the New Orleans Center. I think that is where the mayor is, at least that is what I thought I heard when they were calling for two armed escorts.
Honey have you slept?
jeez - what's the mayor afraid of now that's he lost total control along with the gov
True.

Christine O'Bannon, a survivor of Hurricane Camille, recovers belongings Wednesday from her Second Street home in Gulfport that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
BAY ST. LOUIS With Hurricane Camille in 1969, Alex Jordan recalls the water only coming to the railroad tracks in the Middle Town area of Waveland.
CUT CUT
"[Waveland of Bay St. Louis] Longo said in his city alone, the death toll is approaching 50.
Amid the stench of death, rescue workers tried to help the living Wednesday.
Trucks and volunteers from Virginia, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas brought food to people whose homes and lives were devastated by Katrina.
People grabbed food off the trucks. "They're kind of panicking. Most of them lost everything, and it's kind of like security for them," said Dee Lumpkin, deputy director of the Hancock County Emergency Management Agency.
At least 14 bodies are being stored at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis in a cooler powered by a generator. Coroner Norma Stiglet said downed trees have kept emergency personnel from recovering many other bodies."
Almost thankfully, the baby has bugged me to turn to Dora the Explorer, so I don't have to listen to her gnash her teeth...
I heard they were searching them before they got into the Dome in Texas and am reasonably sure they would also search them before they were permitted to board the bus.
Gov. Perry of Texas was on one of the shows last night and said that people will be free to come and go while in shelters in Texas.
Criminal activity by some of these looters and thugs is going to be move to a new location soon and I am glad it's to Texas where the citizens CARRY guns.
Anytime someone's a tourist in NO, you've always had to be very careful where you went because there was a real possiblity of being mugged if you wandered into the wrong area.
I wonder how much money NO receives from Homeland Security after 9/11
