Saddest Story: "They aimed a grenade launcher at the children & blew them up" (HBO doc on Beslan)
NY Post ^ | August 31, 2005 | Linda Stasi

Posted on 08/31/2005 6:59:35 AM PDT by dead

One year ago, Chechen terrorists stormed an elementary school in Beslan, holding more than 1,000 kids and adults hostage for three days... When the siege ended, 171 children and more than 200 adults were dead.

The horror of the ordeal will be remembered tomorrow on HBO's incredibly powerful, moving documentary, "Children of Beslan," one of the most heartbreaking you'll ever see...

The film begins with home-video footage... we see gorgeous, happy kids, thrilled parents, grandparents, teachers and others on the first day of school. Every kid has colorful balloons as they mug for the cameras. When the guns started to go off, the kids thought that they were the balloons popping and kept up their playful fun...

One beautiful little boy takes the filmmakers through the bombed-out school, showing step-by-step where the terrorists held them, and then he says, "It was here that they killed my dad and threw him out the window...."

Another child tells of a female terrorist who wanted to let the children have a drink, but a second terrorist blew her up in front of them, with her brains splattering on the kids...

...after the military had begun to move in and children were escaping through windows, one kid recalled that she saw an outdoor faucet with desperate children lined up to drink. She began to head over, and then "they aimed a grenade launcher at the children," and the kids on line blew up...

A father tells his son that God is good, but the kids seem to think otherwise. "He kept the most best children," a girl says, "the most beautiful children died," while another boy says, "I don't believe in God. I believe in Russia — and her armed forces."

"Kids understand everything," says yet another. Indeed they do.

"Children of Beslan" Tomorrow night at 8 on HBO * * * *

I had to chop this review to pieces to fit the "excerpt" requirements. Click the link to read the whole review. It sounds devastating.

Oddly, Linda Stasi, the Post's liberal television critic, never mentions the words "islamic" "muslim" or "allah", so we're left to ponder forever what religion these evil bastards might be.

And ABC did an interview with one of the planners of Beslan, treating the man as tho he was simply someone's next door neighbor.

Which is why Putin threw the interviewer's sorry a$$ out of the country.

"I don't believe in God. I believe in Russia — and her armed forces."

Believe in God...But also believe in the Russians Armed Forces

Good for Putin.

It sounds like HBO didn't try to "justify" or whitewash the actions of the terrorists here.

I guess it was damn near impossible to shoehorn a "sins of America and the Bush family" angle into this story. Although I'm sure they exhausted all possibilities before conceding the point.

Islam is not a religion.

It's a satanic death cult that worships a syphilitic pedophile.

Something we can look forward to here since our Government has no intention of securing our borders or enforcing immigration laws.

As much as I love the documentary form, having sobbed literally to the point of vomiting over Beslan last year, I think I'll skip this one.

Of course not, they're Chechen separtists.

I could not bear to watch this. Just the word "Beslan" chills me. I wish long, painful deaths for these allies of Cindy Sheehan's 'freedom fighters'...

Of course not, they're Chechen separtists.

Indeed they are – al Qaeda-linked, muslim, Chechen separtists, whose goal is to establish an fundamentalist Islamic state in the region.

And they’ll happily blow up innocent schoolchildren in their bid to get it done. Praise be allah, all peace and blessing be upon him.

I guess HBO didn't get the memo that the most important thing to focus on in the WOT is how we treated prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.

I don't think I could watch another minute of that barbaric tragedy.

I thought the Theatre invasion was horrific but this targeting of little children is so beyond the pale.

And we have Senator Corzine and other elected officials demanding we stop using data mining. And don't dare check out library usage. Can't find terrorists, it might offend them!

Some days I just can't stand it anymore. They want to undermine the Patriot Act!

In the name of what!

Diagrams of a grammar school in NJ was found in Iraq.

Again, I want to know in the name of what are we to undermine the Patriot Act.

I'm with you OF. That is why Able Danger needs to air and be pinned on the Rat party in the biggest of ways, especially since it has been taken over by the Dean/Soros/Sheehan wing. They need to be defeated to a degree where they will never recover. Thereafter, the party can rebuild. It's personal. I've got a 4 and 6 year old that just started school last week, hence, my tears over Beslan. The Islamist animals need to be irradicated. Gone, to burn in Hell....

Beslan was, to me, far beyond the barbarity of 9/11. They looked those babies in the eyes. As a mother-of-three I couldn't get away from it. And literally, one night, after viewing some pictures online, I sobbed to the point of vomiting.

Beslan has, in a sense, quite numbed me to savagery. It's gonna take a lot now to get a serious reaction out of me. And that is not the good news.

I think we are all pretty numb right now. Even Katrina tragedy just is not registering yet. Even today when I said to a friend that over 3000 may have died I said it with no passion or anything.

I am a bit worried about myself.

Some dem has already come out against the data mining. Just this week.

They have to walk a fine line. If they come out against the technology, they have to discuss enAble Danager.

And notice the silence of the Jersey Girls.

They would risk our lives for politics, or because they're too stubborn to admit they were duped.

Re#18 Sr*ew the Jersey Ghouls. I want to see real families. Lots of them. I would also like to see them take shots at the JGs--i.e., "where are they now? We thought they wanted answers, the truth"....

I saw this documentary last night.

The kids are remarkably well-versed, stable and mature.

One girl describes the killing of kids with an RPG while they tried to get water and another boy describes how people withered and fell as they burned. It was horrifying.

On the bright side, this attack did see world sympathy for the Chechens fall to a new low.
