It is swamped by those of the states/localities which are making out like bandits on these price increases being calculated as a percentage.
------
A whole network of people ARE PROFITING GREATLY from this major ripoff...especially the world's crude producers. Sure wish I could run my business that way -- almost doubling your price for your product, knowing your customers MUST PAY IT !!!!

What goes around, will come around.

Of course, oil from coal is old technology developed by the Germans prior to WWII. We should be able to improve it considerably these days if we weren't stuck in the 1920's mindset regarding the gasoline engine.

I've also heard that you can actually make diamonds out of coal, right in your own kitchen, but Zales won't allow it to happen.

I'm glad I read further down to your post. I didn't want to be the one to break the bad news. ;)

If you're seriously considering a motorcycle, but don't have much riding experience, may I suggest (in addition to taking a safety course):

The Honda Silver Wing

It's a scooter, but with a 600cc engine, it's a large scooter. Heavy/powerful enough to take on the highway.

It's got an automatic transmission, so no worries about having to steer, balance and shift at the same time.

There's a TON of storage space under the seat.

"If the Oil and Gas Giants really want to maintain control of the market then all they have to do is announce a commitment to build 20 new refineries within a couple years. If they did this the market will stabilize by shoving the speculators out of the way, gas prices will rapidly decline then people will become complacent once again and get their mind off "alternative" sources."

Wrong. We have been trying to get a new refinery in Arizona for 20 years but the "greenie-weenies" have blocked all attempts all over the country. Blame greenpeace.

By gollies dane, I believe it might be time for you to post that picture of Bill Richardson again. You know the one you are so fond of posting that you posted it more than 20 times in a week.

For home heating in the North...think wood pellets. The stoves are built in the US, the pellets come from local saw mills that make furniture and whatnot....all the $$ stays local. F- the Arabs, F- Hugo Chavez and F- the oil companies.

We now have 5 cords of ends from saw mills, next week we will get two cord of regular hard wood. Have a wood furnace (with a gas furnace backup) and a wood cook stove. So staying warm and having a place to cook is only half the battle, still have to get to the store for supplies. Could not get any canning done as we came home to late to start a garden. Looking forward to hunting season. Can get 4 deer which will be a big help.

I'll second the bump for pellet stoves!
They are AWESOME and environmentally friendly.

The only problem is they're catching on so pellet prices are going up. 2 years ago they were about $3 - I just saw some they other day for over $4!!

This year - I'm hoping to get a drop shipment.
Anyone recommend a Western NY area dealer with reasonable prices?

Mine is in the garage. Of course, some guys park them in the living room.

By the way, DON'T BUY GAS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!! Sept. 1st, we boycott ALL stations. Then we buy from only stations that use American oil. Let's make it work.

I'm not selling anything.

The documentation is there...Germany in WWII used the process with great success.

Japan also used the process in lesser capacity.

I bet you did notknow that before 1850, the majority of oil used by the US was created by this method.

When John Rockefeller started investing in oil, he tried to kill this process by purchasing the patent.

The US government has documentation on this.

The oil companies know about it.

SO keep on paying 3 dollars and up for gasoline. Keep your mind shut and your head in the sand.

So when the economy collapses and you are looking at your SUV or car sitting the the driveway because you can't afford to fill it up, remeber the Karrick process.

The high price of oil will cause political and economic upheaval that will shake this world.

Look on the brighter side of it. If there is no gas for automobiles and buses, then these NUTS won't be able to go everywhere and protest about everything.....

They'll have to make do with 'photo ops' and media coverage from their doorsteps...then we get to see where these freaks live....

Amazing how prices increase with time. When I first started driving gas was 18 cents a gallon. Cars, good ones, cost $3,000.

I fill up now for $15 (you really need to use hi-test for a bike) and commute on any day it's not raining. That usually lasts me for about a week and a half. Compared to $65 for my truck that only lasts a week, if that. No brainer

The conversion of coal to gasoline is real, and it is viable. It is currently used in some countries where coal is abundant and petroleum is not. Problem is...it would end up costing more than $2 a gallon, and that makes it undesirable (well, how about now?) I'd say it is time to resurrect the idea here in the USA.
