You can't put crude oil in your gas tank. The problem is refineries are down. This may cool the vultures in the commodities trading pit for a day or two, but it won't have much effect on the pump price. Every driver in the country needs to find ways to cut back on fuel use. That would help stretch supplies.

Exactly. No way it's going to help at the pump, not to mention what we pay at the pump isn't helping NO. I've been saying it would be a dumb move, but Bush caved to the pressure.

The refineries are still up. The problem now is lack of crud to refine.

And that is exactly what the strategic petroleum reserve is for.

4 day work weeks would help alot if your company will allow it.4,10 hour days instead of 5,8 hour days.

Right on, Kitty. But, if the totalitarian Stalinist regime could build tank and aircraft factories beyond the Urals almost overnight, our free market industry can build new refineries at breakneck speed. We are in a grave emergency, vis-a-vis fuel, and the administration can and should implement this immediately, liberals and their blasted agenda be damned.

People rushing to top off their tanks will only makes the situation worse. They think they'll avoid the higher price, all the while CAUSING the higher price.

That' true, however, once the refineries are open again, they will have the oil to produce gas.
