reporters asking about national price cap. Whitehouse spokesman says no real push for this but will not allow price gouging. Instances will be referred to FTC. Problem is not only the Souths but is whole country's
SEc of Energy.....says no to price caps.

If the pols really want to do something and do it PDQ, why don't they just lower federal gas taxes?

Price controls would fail, just as they did in the 70's when Nixon tried to use them.

I work for a municipality in the FL panhandle and was just notified this morning that our next fuel delivery will cost us $3.37/gal and that we should expect a 30-45 day wait before our next delivery. This is the cost BEFORE price gouging! The economic ripple from Katrina will be felt for awhile.
