Where is G.W. Bush and why isn't he standing on a rescue vehicle in the middle of NO providing leadership and support? He is making the same mistake that his father made when Andrew hit Florida in 1992. He is setting himself up to be portrayed as yet another Nero. Either get out there, or deputize Guliani and get him in there. It seems like the mayor of No has vanished into oblivion, and the leadership void is just another aspect of the tragedy. That would CAUSE more problems than it would solve.

What is your concern? It is hardly possible to scew this up any then it already has been. The President agenda is going to drown in New Orleans, if he doesn't visibly get in there to assume responsibility and take charge. That is what the executive is supposed to do, and he is not doing it. This is not the kind of thing you wash your hand of and turn your back on.
