My husband vacuumed packed rice, beans, sugar, and flour in huge 5 gallon buckets after 9/11. We have those things stored under our house.

It's a good idea to use that food within about two years. It loses nutritional value, and beans are notorious for aflatoxins.

He's done the research, and it is good for at least 5 years. There's lots of websites with all the instructions for packing up the food. He had to use some very specialized containers.
