But what will they DO there? Certainly they aren't going to try to make them stay inside, are they?
That was my question. Either the refugees will be wandering the streets of Houston, or they will be imprisoned in the dome. Neither one sounds like a real good deal to me.
Dunno, and it would be stupid to make then stay inside. Just about anything would be an improvement from the SuperDome in its current condition, though.
I think Gov. Perry said that the Astrodome would be temporary and that he would be trying to find more semi-permanent places for them...
At least at the Astrodome they can go outside...and Astroworld is within walking distance...maybe they will open up and give the people (especially kids) can go free and have some fun, at least for a few hours...and food, and drinks...I know I would do that if I owned it.
Boy, that was my first question. I can't believe Houston readily agreed to do this ... what do they do to make a living?
According to WWL, the idea is to get them to Houston, take care of them; connect them with relatives and/or friends from elsewhere that can help them, and move them on. The idea is that the Astrodome has facilities; has resources for the Red Cross to provide assistance, has access for others, and certainly has capabilities for people to be able to leave. All things that the Superdome doesn't have.
