"You summarized that thread well, and I'm happy to be taking a break from it! "
I will take that as a good compliment from someone who has been busy there!
I am a skeptic by nature. Also, when one is immersed in the midst of a ground-zero site as is MFH's source was/may be, it would be hard to imagine that all he*l has not broken lose and extrapolate from there.
I was looking at a news site regarding a little town called Petal, MS. The source is credible, the damage is total; yet:
"There were no reported deaths and only minor injuries."

Police officer says Petal 'destroyed'
By Hattiesburg American

HATTIESBURG — Like the rest of south Mississippi, the Oak Grove area suffered all kinds of damage from Hurricane Katrina.
One of the first stores to re-open in Petal was the Ace Hardware store. By 7 a.m., with puddles of water still standing on the showroom floor, the doors were open and employee Rob Walker was tallying up his first sale of the day — tarps and roofing cement for his father, Floyd Walker of Petal.
Larry Isaiah of Orange Grove, just north of Gulfport, stayed with a friend in Oak Grove Monday night. He walked by himself along a side street near Old Highway 11.
"I didn't think it would be this bad," he said.
The storm "destroyed" the town, said Petal Police Sgt. Brent Barfield. There were no reported deaths and only minor injuries. But there were more damaged homes and buildings than anyone could count, and the road crews that worked through the night had only managed to clear the main roads through town. "I've never seen anything like it in my life," he said.
