Road openings should be posted by the MS Highway Patrol. However, I tried their website www.dps.state.ms.us/dps/dps.nsf/Divisions/hp; it seems the entire MS gov website is down.

Would also try MEMA - Mississippi Emergency Management Agency: 1-800-222-MEMA or http://www.msema.org (this site is jammed too)

MEMA will know where the generators can best be used (e.g. shelters).

Thank you all. I have three maps out and am attempting to find a passable route. To be honest, it is a rather difficult task - there are so many roads completely closed or with posted advisories.

And Truth, I appreciate the warning and will pass it along. I don't think either of us would have thought about the danger of hijacking and I thank God for the resourcefulness of FRiends.
