To: Pirogue Captain
I guy at work from New Orleans, mentioned that Lake Pontchartrain could simply be made to release a lot of water, which would save the city. He says they don't do it because it would have all the farmers growing sugar cane downstate upset. Gawd, I wish I could remember the name of the canal or spillway he mentioned. I'll ask him again tomorrow.

That doesn't make sense to me, because "downstate" from Ponchartrain is New Orleans. I'm sure if there were any quick fix like that they'd have done it long ago. But in any disaster, the rumors will fly.

I'm talking about doooowwwnnn state. Not New Orleans. New Orleans borders the lake.
