Instead of herding people into the Superdome, why didn't the mayor order the use of these buses, and get those people out of the low-lying areas?
An aerial view shows flooded school buses in New Orleans. Water began rising in the streets Tuesday morning, swamping an estimated 80 percent of the city.
I saw that pic earlier and wondered the same thing myself. Why weren't these buses used for good, rather than left to destruction?
Saw those earlier this evening completely submerged on video on WWL. Told my husband they probably had gas in them too.
Its Bush's fault....
I have no source for the following other than some idle hearsay, but, I had heard that the public transit buses were moved out of NO, during the height of the attempted evacuation process, empty, except for the driver.
Because he wasn't "sure" he had the authority to order an evacuation, so he said.
(Just try to imagine ONE mayor on the East Coast thinking that, much less caring about that........LOL)
That is such a depressing picture. What a total waste of resources that was.
That was my thought when I came across that picture earlier this evening. Some dissent on an earlier thread said that there was no way that enough buses could be found to make a difference.
These fools, Blanco, Gagin(sp), and Landrieu have a LOT to answer for. How typical for incompetent losers to blame others for their own fatal shortcomings.
