The lake is open to the sea. Someone said it was 9 inches above sea level. The surge is long gone.

Okay. All we need is a verified elevation source to eliminate the Mississippi. Does Bourbon St have water? Roughly 2.5 above sea level there.

Time to:
Give up on pumping.
Stop taking people to SD.
Get the ones in SD out to other cities.
Close the city off.
Start over after all the lives that can be saved are saved.

Where this film was taken is about 1 foot above sea level. I carefully checked the topo map. It is at Bourbon and Common street, one block west of Canal Street. The water seems about 3 feet deep.
