The lake is open to the sea. Someone said it was 9 inches above sea level. The surge is long gone. Okay. All we need is a verified elevation source to eliminate the Mississippi. Does Bourbon St have water? Roughly 2.5 above sea level there.

Where this
film was taken is about 1 foot above sea level. I carefully checked the topo map. It is at Bourbon and Common street, one block west of Canal Street. The water seems about 3 feet deep.
