Aren't all soldiers carry or write a letter to parents in case they are killed in combat. If he had one, wouldn't you think if he was opposed to the war she would have shared it? She doesn't make any sense at all. She can't even defend her own cause, and can't use her son's death because she has nothing to indicate that he was against the war.
