Yes, he was a soldier. And by all accounts, despite his mother's action, he acquitted himself well. That's the saddest part of all of this. Despite her hatred for Bush and the war, she could at least give him the honor he deserves. I have YET to hear her speak well of her son AS A SOLDIER....yet, that is what he re-enlisted to be.

If you listen to the whole NPR segment, one of the fallen Marine's moms says something so powerful, that it shows Cindy Sheehan to be the self-sentered ideologue we all know her to be: She says she doesn't question the war her son died in because "he was a Marine, he wasn't drafted, he voluntarily enlisted. I raised my son to be strong, independent, free-thinking, stand by your decisions. And, to question him, his decision, would be to question how I raised him."
