Sorry, but reporters don't determine what airs. Producers back at the station do that. Sometimes that decision is a no-win one. If they show the grisly stuff, they'll get in big trouble for sensationalism. If they don't, they get criticism for withholding the truth.

Frankly, there are things we don't need to SEE. It would help nothing. Listen carefully to words, to what is being said, and draw your own conclusions.

Just imagining people trapped in dark attics with no food or water and maybe an antagonistic snake or two is enough. I don't need to see pictures of bodies floating.

While I do not like to see horrible pictures in the news, it is no good to try to hide from the American people the true damage of a disaster.

In WWII Life magazine published many gruesome pictures of the carnage of battle and the POW camps and torture that was going on in Europe and the south pacific. The American people had to be told the truth about the enemy.

In 9/11, the truth was not told the pictures were not shown. The 9/11 commission was able to whitewash the governments lack of coordination, incompetence and criminal negligence because the American people have NEVER seen the true devastation on human life wrought by the 9/11 terrorists.

If the Louisiana government is culpable for the deaths of its citizens because they didn't maintain the levee system or for other reasons, the people have a right to know and a right to see what out of control, lawless, corrupt politicians can do to harm us. The only way we can ever hope to put honest politicians into office who will protect our individual rights and our American culture is to shine the light on the crooks and corruption, even if the pictures we see are disturbing.
