Multistory structures down in a wide swath from the beachfront to in some cases, as much as 1 mile inland.

The video did show, however, that many similar structures are still standing, and in apparantly good shape except for broken windows. I think it will come down to a matter of construction practices and luck as to what buildings took what Katrina dealt out and remain standing, and which structures failed.

Isn't it a shame it takes a big catastrophe like this to find out where they cut corners in construction, who tipped the inspectors etc. It seems natural to find out this stuff later on, that's why it is best for people to do honest work.
