I think we've got multiple villains here. It's not just the 9-11 Commission who buried Able Danger. The Pentagon evidently wanted it buried before 9-ll. As far as we know, the Pentagon remained silent when the 9-ll Commission kept it out of their report. And even more telling, the Pentagon has done everything it could during the last few weeks to discredit Weldon and the whistleblowers who've come forward to back him up.
Maybe Weldon is a bulldog. Maybe he does have a special, trusting relationship with Arlen Spector that will guarantee Spector conducting a legitimate investigation.
I can't say I'm optimistic. While Weldon cautions the Pentagon not to release anymore premature statements, he goes on local Pennsylvania radio shows doing just that. Maybe he has to, in order to keep Able Danger interest alive, but it just doesn't feel right to me.
That bothered me as well, coupled with the fact that he and his witnesses remained silent during the hearings and suddenly found their voice. We've been disappointed so often in the past that I pray there's something here and not just someone with a book to sell.
