As an Ellis County resident, I can assure you that one NEVER speeds between Italy and Hwy 342. The DPS office there does speed checks several times a day, typically to catch speeders from Austin flying down the road.

The vehicle, a 2005 Lincoln, was impounded after deputies contacted its owner, a rental car company.

"Avis officials requested that we impound it," Williams said.

Avis requested that the car be impounded. It seems that the occupants were violating the lease agreement by speeding 50 miles over the posted speed limit.
