Hartford -- Connecticut's top prosecutor is seeking an arrest warrant for former Gov. John G. Rowland amid an investigation into ties between Rowland and state contractors, his attorney said Monday.
Rowland has been in a federal prison in Pennsylvania since April after pleading guilty to a charge he conspired to trade his office for favors and to commit tax fraud.
State prosecutors are looking into whether consulting work Rowland accepted after he relinquished the governorship last year violated Connecticut's "revolving door" laws.
R. Bartley Halloran, Rowland's attorney, said he does not know the specific charges being sought by the state, but believes they have to do with Rowland's employment after leaving office.
"We feel that on the facts of the law that he has committed no crime, and our great worry would be whether or not he could get a fair trial," Halloran said.

Hell Roland should be put away for backing the theft of private property in New London. The longer the better.
You will have to excuse my ignorance, but when did Roland do that?
Before he got his arse in trouble for graft he supported the private entity formed to steal the property of the folks in New London.
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
[Attorney] R. Bartley Halloran, said the former governor intends to fight any state charges. Under a probable transfer scenario, Rowland would be extradited to Connecticut before his federal sentence is finished on Feb. 10 and held in a Connecticut prison pending an arraignment...
...Halloran, contacted at his West Hartford home, said Monday night that he had just gotten off the phone with Patricia Rowland, the state's former first lady, who has been coping with their five children since Rowland surrendered on April 1.
"I haven't been able to talk with him, but I was on phone with his wife, who needless to say is tremendously upset," Halloran said. "Mrs. Rowland and the children are worried, because while he was governor, there were scores of death threats."
Halloran said he tried to negotiate with Morano, including an offer of waiving the statute of limitations if Connecticut were to postpone prosecution until after Rowland is released from the Federal Correction Institution in Loretto, Pa. [and apparently the deal wasn't made]
"One of the things that's so upsetting is the timing of this," Halloran said. "Because of what they've done [yeah, it's their fault they didn't go for his deal], they have to transfer the governor from the prison in Pennsylvania back to state prison here."
Hee! WHAT could be better than putting him in a CONNECTICUT prison with some of our State's 'shining' citizens?
(I'd suggest to him he stay out of the showers, and always stay in plain sight of the security cameras; but I don't want to give aid and comfort to an enemy)
