washington and all over the world. And she and a number of other ago visits go down with cindy sheehan at the first. And over the last few weeks she has been supported by a number of groups, including move on code pink, women's antI-war group. Now, on this bus tour she is taking, she will only be on a couple of dayS. Brit: This is supposed to be a nationwide bus tour.
>> Right. Brit: Is this something that she started? Or that she organized? Is this somebody else's tour?

>> The destination is the anti-war demonstration in washington on september 24. She is leaving crawford on wednesday. Brit: On a bus.

>> But only a couple of dayS. She will go from crawford to houston where thee they have a protest outside of tom delay's office. Then she goes off and does over things. She has personal and speaking commitments. Cindy is gone, but the tour goes on. That is operated, that is wholly military family groups. Four groups are supporting her, gold star families for peace. Brit: Did she start that group?

>> Yes. Separate from the gold star mother's group which is the nonpartisan group. Military families speak out. A couple of veteran's groups, veteran's for peace, and another group. Brit: What about all of these groups? Do these groups, you mention that this less lee woman is a veteran of protests, some violent. That doesn't mean -- or does it -- that she favors or supports violence?

>> She is an advocate of direct action and spoke at various times that different situations require different tactics. She once said nonviolence is a strategy, civil disobedience is a tactic, direct action is a strategy. She favors doing what she feels is necessary. Brit: Invieweding violence?

>> Occasionally. There were incident in the past, and a lot in seattle. Remember, the protesters threatened to shut down the city of washington for the global trade meeting here, and the police chief in washington decided to shut down the city ahead of time anyway. She is just one of a number of groups. The interesting thing about this, is this is not a kind of movement in which there is a single person funding it or doing it. There are a bunch of groups doing it and there is no single person in charge. Brit: What kind of groups are they? Besides the fact they are against the war, i mean they showed up with cindy sheehan, or she went down there on her own and they joined her. Were they in on it from the beginning?

>> Some were from the beginning this is an internet-fueled things as well. Move on do the org got going, and theres were interest from there. It was a grassroots things that a number of groups like move on, like code pink and others, they managed to get peoplE. Now they --

>> Who -- brit: Who hired fentoN.

>> It was paid for by a group, true majority. One founded by ben cohen. Brit: A noted liberal activist, but nonviolent.

>> He contributed a lot of money. And they represented move on and other groups on the left. Brit: We turn for a moment to the protest we saw over the weekend in which we heard some, for the first time really, i guess, some voices in texas, in crawford, where they were arguing in favor of the war and supporting the president. This is a group sponsored by a group called move america forward. What are they?

>> They are a conservative group in california, started and funded by a man who is a former, I believe, state representative there. There is also a radio personality, conservative talk show host who is prominent. It is not a big group and there haven't been, in the reaction to cindy sheehan, there has not been this wide coalition of groups on the right that we saw on the left with sheehan. Brit: At the moment, cindy sheehan's operation, joined as it is by anti-bush forces remains a larger force in this country than anything that has emerged on the right?

>> The move forward turned a number of people out. The test of strength will be the protest on september 24 in washington, which is supposed to be quite big. Brit:, Thank you very much. Glad to have you. We have to take a break to give our sponsors time. When we come back, remarks about john roberts made <

I think I'm going to have to schedule some time off work.
