I have to wonder where some of these "tough on immigration" people were before Bush was President.

Can't answer for everybody, but for myself, I was stumping for him and encouraging people to vote for him so he might get elected as our President. Obviously, the cumulative effect builds up over time, but it's amazing how these problems only seem to crop up when a Republican occupies the White House.

The first part of that is right. The problem has built up over time. How far back do we have to go to see where the courts began granting government benefits to illegals? I believe that the strong economy, especially the housing boom which is attracting so many illegals because of the jobs it has created, has brought it to the attention of those north of the border states.

Also, the public is better informed now then it was even ten years ago because of the Internet. Additionally, there is the not so insignificant fact of 9/11, and what dangers open borders might entail in a time of war which has probably not been something anybody had to think about much since WWII. There are many things at play, but to characterize people who are in favor of securing the borders by suggesting that it is only because Bush is President and happens to be a Republican just isn't accurate in the least as to why this has become a rather big issue. That argument is just as hollow as calling folks who want the border secured racists. There is just no basis in fact to support it, though lord knows there are those trying to do that.

You want the borders open? Just say so. But stop your baseless attacks.

planekT...yep.

GoBucks2002....just because very bad policy came before BushII doesn't mean he can't do something about it now. He is, afterall, the present President. I just think it's a shame that all of our "elected officials", dem or pub, are working for the establishment of the NWO.

You may continue the lockstep support of "W" now.

This is when most became aware of just how insane the whole immigration policy is.
