Quote "Thanks. Red Cross would not give anyone on my husband's medivac flight coffee, donuts or cigarettes unless they paid. All were donated items. Just one thing that made me mad."
It's not the job of the Red Cross to give you cigarettes or anyone else for that matter.
heh
The job of the Red Cross is to help sustain life during and after a disaster. They are helping hundreds of thousands of people. There are NOT other groups out there opening up all these shelters.
I agree that it is not their job to pass out anything to anyone. Just do not offer donated items to our servicemen and the try to charge them.
So you think it's fine for the Red Cross to sell donated items to wounded soldiers? If this was anything like their 9/11 "effort", they were doing their best to mislead the donors into thinking the items would be given to the soldiers at no charge, since that rakes in a lot more donations. Sorry, but the Red Cross has lost its credibility. They do indeed have a huge disaster relief infrastructure, but I'll be directing my donations in a way that will shrink theirs and grow the infrastructures of honest relief organizations.
Well then who needs the Red Cross? Just let in private catering trucks, and keep the Red Cross the hell out. The Red Cross exudes arrogance and hubris. It also helped greatly to infect thousands with AIDS due to its refusal to take the issue of tainted blood seriously. They just didn't give a damn, until the spector of class action lawsuits frightened the. As per usual, it is all about money for them. That's why I say send in the private catering trucks and keep them out. At least the hypocracy factor will be reduced.
Here is what the the Red cross is up to:
