Do you remember the before and after aerial pictures of the shoreline? A few people remarked at the time, that it looked like the US. I found a copy of it, FWIW:

The damage from surge to the east of NO is very similar to that of the tsunami. In the city itself, it's a slower flood... but, will likely end up being just as catastrophic as the main event.
