Lady, you are the one condoning stealing.

You are the one taking the very liberal attitude of saying that it is OK for someone to steal provided they are stealing diapers or formula.

You are the one who is getting her panties in a wad when she is called on it by myself and others here.

You are the one with the sanctimonious holier-than-thou attitude when others have challenged your liberal hand-wringing.

You are the one who all of a sudden wants to solicit donations out of the blue.

And now, you are the one who is insisting that others are whining, when you, yourself are doing the whining.

I don't have to justify myself to you. No one else here does either. However, the conservative posters here, nearly to a one, will not condone stealing. Stealing is illegal. Period.

Go find someone else to foist your liberal guilt upon, because right now, you are truly barking up the wrong tree.

Excellent points indeed.

For all we know, she was going to
sell the diapers.

She only got caught w/diapers. She
may have stolen other items but didn't
get caught w/those.

Aw Mike, this thread is intended to share information for FReepers and their families in Katrina's path--not a flame war bacause one FReeper thinks looting is justified...

I'll go so far as to turn a blind eye to theft, provided it is for survival and no other options exist.

SURVIVAL, not convenience.
As in: A choice between stealing and living or not stealing and dying.
PERIOD.

However, the theives of necessities OUGHT to leave contact information and a list of pilfered goods so that the proper owner can seek proper recompense when the emergency is over.

What were they going to do about diapers if the hurricane hadn't hit? They were given 2 days notice to prepare...it's not a question about not being able to buy it now...they could have bought it anytime in the last 2 days.

It is a matter of taking advantage of a bad situation. Stealing diapers because they were not being watched...and she thought she could get away with it!

Mike

I can't follow the threads. What happened with the stealing lady?

I am sorry if it just means I lost the ability to backtrack.

But if you say she is trying to take advantage of us, I am with you 100%
