Not practical if you are starting in New Orleans. 60 miles wouldn't get you much farther than the far side of Lake Pontchartrain. You would still be dead meat. Unless you can walk faster than the hurricane is traveling, about 14 mph, trying to walk away from a hurricane is pointless.
A bicycle might be ok if you chose the right direction to travel in. If you guess wrong, you might be peddling into where it hits instead of away though.
