How about we grow a set, and quit letting them play us like fools? Every election cycle brings the same loving courtship only to be dumped once we give them the goods. Become more involved in the state party as well. With our activism we should be dictating to the national party from our state parties. Instead the jackasses are leading us around on a leash.

Bush faces GOP fight over guest workers

* * *

President Bush faces a major rebellion within his own party if he follows through on a promise to push legislation that would offer millions of illegal immigrants a path to U.S. citizenship. Almost no issue divides Republicans as deeply.

It's started. I suggest a long, hard look at the UK's Conservative Party in the mid-90s to see how a loss of nerve can prove fatal and pave the way for a left-wing landslide.

There's no alternative to the GOP other than the Democrats. That's worth cutting, pasting and repeating several hundred times.

We won the last election by a slim margin. The Democrats are not going anywhere, and they are very up and motivated about bringing Bush down. If we don't stick together then next year's elections will be grim and 2008 will be a landslide for the Dems and our party will be locked out of power for at least two terms due to in-fighting and lingering distrust from the public. Again, look at the last 10 years of the UK's Conservative Party to see how the mighty can fall if they forget that good policies, good politics and LOYALTY are necessary to remain in government.

Bush is our President, he has over three years left of his second term to run, and I trust that he will weather the storms ahead and come out, along with America, stronger than ever.

We are at war, in case anyone had forgotten, and you don't try and bring down the government in wartime unless you are working for the enemy. Enemies of Bush are enemies of America, nothing less than traitors who in more enlightened times would have been shamed from their homes and disgraced.

As do I. Spending can definitely reap political rewards, but sooner or later the bill comes due and the reprecussions of growing government come back to bite in the arse.

***Got any suggestions?***

Yes actually.

Tomorrow night, my congress critter is having a TownHall Meeting a couple blocks from my house and I plan to 'respectfully' put her feet to the fire on the ILLEGAL INVASION.

She's a nice enough lady and always votes the way Delay tells her - which is normally good IMO. But she's never sponsored one single bill and is mute on ILLEGAL immigration invaders.

As such I want to know what she's going to do about the two current house bills, one by Tancredo another by a Rep in Texas, they both call for deportation of all illegals.

The Texas guy even has a provision to deputize law abiding US citizens as Border Agents who would serve on a PT basis as their schedule allows (I like that one).

The GOP has become as much a Big Government party as the Dimmycraps, unfortunately. While there are still some good people in the Republican Party and they do come up with a good public official occasionally, they will not cut government, they passed the biggest entitlement in 40 years, gagged our freedom of speech in campaigns, refuse to protect our borders, language, culture, try to compromise on fundamental issues like abortion, and have turned their backs on conservatives in so many ways. The former RNC chairman even said that there was no room for limited-government ideas in the Republican Party.

Well, that's not my party. My party is constitutionalist and conservative. It is a limited-government, strong borders party. While I do not expect everyone to agree with me on every issue and I certainly do not expect total victory overnight, I do expect any party that wants my support to start moving the ball in our direction, not in the other direction.

Under Komrade Herr Klintoon, domestic discretionary spending went up 2.3 percent per year. Under the Bush Administration, it has gone up 8.2 percent per year. Domestic discretionary spending is defined as nondefense, noneentitlement. And they ahve made this worse with their massive new (Republican) entitlement program.

Republicans gave us Affirmative Action, the EPA, and a number of other restirictive, intrusive government agencies.

We get all the rhetoric, they get all the action.

Supreme Court Justices William Brennan, Earl Warren, Harry Blackmun, John Paul Stevens, and David Souter, among other disasters, were Republican appointees. They are some of the worst justices ever to sit on the Supreme Court.

When Democrats are in charge, it's as if we're driving off a cliff at 100 MPH. Republicans at least drive within the speed limit -- but we're still heading off the cliff. We need to turn the car around.

The Republican Party was formed because the Whigs would not take a stand on the main issues of the day. Well, the Republicans did such a good job of replacing the Whigs that they have become the Whigs.

Why should conservatives support a party that abandons us at every turn? Either the Republcian party must shape up -- and NOW -- or it is time to go to our own party, one that is dedicated to Constitutional, conservative, limited-government, states' rights principles.

I can hear the Republibots crying "But that will just put the Dimmycraps in power!" Well, whether we have Republican government or Dimmycrap government, government still grows bigger, more intrusive, more invasive, and more expensive day by day. Ultimately, thigns go pretty much the same way with either party. Neither one stands for us.

It's time ot go to the window, stick our heads out, and say to the GOP, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

Actually I wish "Conservatives" would quit whining and take the bleeding' party back. Instead all these "conservatives" screaming "Why doesn't Bush do something" "or "Should Conservatives dump the GOP" maybe this guy should be posting an article "10 steps to Conservatives can do to take their party back.

1. Get involved instead of sitting on your butts whining.

2. Encourage Conservative voices in the party by contacting their websites or offices.

3 Lobby congress to pass the most Conservative forms of legislation on everything from Immigration to tax cuts.Conservative should especially put reinstatement of the 1995 PAY AS YOU GO budget rules.

4. Run for office yourself against RINO candidates. Even if you lose you can help pull the party right.

5. Contact your local and state GOP offices and pull them right.

6. Get elected to party office or help Conservative candidates get elected to those offices

7. Get involved with your local grass roots party organization.

8, Call Talk Radio and write Letters to the Editor getting the conservative message out.

9. Write letters to MSN outlets, and THEIR ADVERTISERS, voicing your strong opposition to their Hate America First agenda.

10 Help elect as many Conservatives to office at every level even if it means dumping a long term GOP party hack.

Get INVOLVED, DO something. And for God sakes, STOP WHINING. When the hell did the party of Ronald Reagan turn into such a bunch of whiny losers?

Thanks for dropping by from DU. BTW, you do realize your knee jerk Bush hate is every bit as intellectually indefensible as what you accuse your mythical "Bush bots" of doing?

I say let the nation die now. Sooner rather than later. It'll make the recovery faster. As far as parties, form our own; the nation is headed for balkanization and civil war anyway.

Why not? The GOP dumped true conservatism long ago. Those hanging on in the hope that the ruling elite will come around are fooling themselves.

So why should the GOP stay in power?

Because your perfect fantasy world doesn't exist. You have to live in the real world. Your choice is bad or the absolute opposite of everything you CLAIM to care about. When faced with a dilemma, the solution is to change the equation. Instead of doing nothing but sitting our butts all day holding a pity party get involved. Write your Congress Critter demanding they reimpose the 1995 Pay as you Go Budget rules. That is a start. The over all solution is to take the party back not spending all day whining about "Bush Bots".

The primaries are too late. We need to be on things like county central committees. Example:

My Rep, if you can call her that, is Deb Pryce. Those who've followed politics long enough, know that she voted for the 1994 gun grab that passed by one vote. She is now the third ranking member of Congress. Every primary, I support her opponent, one Charlie Morrison. But with another 25-28 votes on the central committee, she wouldn't get the GOP endorsement.

Example: I grew up in Batavia, IL. Its rep is one Dennis Hastert, also of Batavia, IL. He's Speaker of the House in a district that should be overwhelmingly conservative, unless they gave him Aurora in the 2000 gerrymander. His chief of staff is one Scott Palmer, who - guys, those of you in the DC area, just ask around. If you want to know a pols real intentions, just check out his/her votes and senior staff.

No turnip trucks involved. We here can change all that, if we will work harder/smarter than the other side.

I wan't BORN then, for crying out loud...!;-)

Good answer.............welcome aboard.

EVERY one of the 'old timers' were once also "newbies". Hang in there. We've all been called trolls, newbies etc., told to "go back to DU" whenever we don't fall in line and follow the "Bushbot" plan to spend our country into bankruptcy.

The GOP left me, not the other way around. I will vote my conscience from now on and sleep better for it. I am of firm belief that there is little difference between the GOP and the Dems anymore.

Keep the wind in your face. It is a proven fact that the more oxygen your brain gets, the clearer you think.

The republican party faithful(read "scum sucking dogs") gave Ohio Taft the Turd, twice! To the conservative republicans I say "Take your money and votes elsewhere! The world will keep turning".
