Mean while this is what the GOP boss has planned for illegals, on another thread.
n an effort to better control immigration, President Bush is moving toward allowing illegal immigrants who came to the U-S before February 2004 to qualify for guest-worker visas.
With the change people smuggled in after February 2004 would be deported.
Details emerged last week as state leaders in Arizona and New Mexico stepped up pressure on the Bush administration and Congress to better police U.S. borders and to deal with an estimated 10 million people who are living illegally in this country.
So why should the GOP stay in power?

The federal government is a bigger beast now, under total
Republican control, than it has ever been. This article is dead-on right. The problem, though, is that there doesn't seem to be anything to stop it from continuing to grow. Shrinking the size and scope of the federal government is not a priority of those who have the power.
No longer are we the masters of our government - the way it was intended. The government is the master of us. All hail the Bureaucracies; all hail the Senators; all hail the Congressmen. We are here to serve the Almighty Federal Government.

The way I see it is that we conservatives outnumber the liberals so we have the power to change both parties. People who worry that the democrats will take control are just giving up. Personally I intend to continue the fight no matter who's in power.

Since there is not a Ronald Reagan coming up the ranks to scare the hell out of the party of Rockefeller, I would suggest that as of today, the best way to reform the GOP/advance the cause is to support Club for Growth.

When one of our people gets elected, sooner or later he [or she] stops being one of our people.
An excellent argument for term limits.

Change the people running in the Republican party via the primarys. Instead of just "staying home", GO VOTE IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY. Get rid of the incumbents....
If that don't work, we are basically screwed, IMO. There is nothing else, since we are burdened with a "one man, one vote" system, and that is another argument for another day.
As nasty as politics have become, the people that should run for office will not because of the disruption of their lives due do the 'process". There is no easy solution....

The revolution is coming and it ain't gonna be pretty. There are times I'm glad to be a "seasoned citizen." Maybe it will happen after I am gone.

Here beginnith the First Lesson
1. To govern, first, you must be elected.
2. To be elected, first you must present your plans in such a way that they appeal to a plurality of the voters.
3. Fringe groups, once that think they are so special that of the mainline party does nor dance to their tune, they will take their ball and go home, only ensure the other side wins.
Those who do not remember history are condemned to relive it. Remember the "Bull Moose Party' of Wacky Ross Perot and his "Ego Party" (yes, it was called something else, but it was all an ego exercise for Perot.)
