IIRC, the worst case is that the storm comes in from the east but doglegs to the west.

So this is just second-worst case.

My crazy friend who volunteered to work with Civil Defense (not that this is a crazy thing to do) told me last night that Lake Pontchartrain has been very low due to the drought. He said it was two feet below the bottom of the stairs on the sea wall, at least before the storm started.

And of course the River has been very low because of the drought in the Midwest.

So seems like there is the lowest water level in memory, if not history.

Which is a plus.

So much for the drought.

Praying for a bundle of small miracles....good news that the river & lake are at low levels, that's one.....good news that so many were able to evacuate & others are gathered in the safest place available with water & food, that's two..........Katrina down so far to level four, that's three. Please Lord, we beg for enough miracles to spare these souls any injuries.
