It appears that the eye is completely onshore, just east of the MS/LA border.
Maybe it's just coincidence but then again maybe not. Althea, Camille, Betsey, these things seem to hate marshland and do a jog left or right to avoid it. Mississippi coastline will once again probably get destroyed.
I remember as a kid in the 60's taking a trip down there and seeing a tanker on the wrong side of the road. Whoa.
