MOSCOW — A plane carrying two U.S. senators was detained for several hours Sunday while trying to leave Russia, before being permitted to leave the country for Ukraine, according to spokesmen for the lawmakers.

Sens. Richard Lugar (search), R-Ind., chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Barack Obama (search), D-Ill., who had both been visiting storage sites for weapons of mass destruction, were held at an airport in the Ural Mountain city of Perm for several hours, but were allowed to leave after talks between U.S. and Russian officials.

"I am in Ukraine with Sen. Lugar," Lugar's spokesman, Andy Fisher, said in a message sent from a personal messaging device Sunday afternoon.

He said Russian officials refused to let the plane take off for three hours and insisted on boarding it. "They did not. The border patrol finally got orders to let us go," Fisher said.

Hell, we have 100 senators and I can't think of one that is worth his weight in dirt.
Take them all and keep them from spending my money.
Put them to work doing manuel labor, something not a one has ever doen for more then a minute in their lives.
Worthless bunch of slackers.

Visiting WMD storage sites. I dont know about Lugar but I am pretty sure Obama wouldnt know a WMD storage site if it bit him on the butt. A couple of real experts out for a lark on our dime.

Think maybe they just needed more time to give Barack Obama instructions for his next weeks activities in the Senate?

Perhaps kennedy's snowe's, collins' and kerry's control agents needed to use Barack Obama to bring back orders to their stooges.

**** I am pretty sure Obama wouldn't know a WMD storage site if it bit him on the butt. ***

Wit all due respect, au contraire (excuse the French).

In the 'esteemed senator's' previous job as an IL rep, his district was FULL of WMD's and WMD sites; Uzi's, fully auto AK-47's, crack houses, shooting galleries (heroin), not to mention hookers on every other corner. And the gangs in his district, oops 'his constituents', were the Black P-Stone Nation and Black Gangster Disciple Nation (and other 'minor' gangs) which mirror Al-Qaeda in their 'love' for the USA and law and order. And those 'fine citizens' undoubtedly are more heavily armed than the CPD and IL National Guard combined. (Larry Hoover, Gangster Disciple 'boss' once tried to broker an arms deal with Muammar al-Qaddafi)

Ergo, 'senator' Osama is more than qualified.
Wait... did I say 'Osama'? Silly me, I meant Obama :-)

(And please don't ask how that idiot got elected, I have no freaking idea. When he won the RAT primary over the machine backed candidate, shock ran through the IL Dem party)

This mornings paper stated it was a regional bureaucrat going by FSB rules, which misidentified the airplane as not military. This was not from Moscow or the Kremlin.

I stand corrected. I am sure he is familiar with quite a few urban warfare weapons however I doubt he would know a Nuclear warhead from a Carbureter off a 1938 Ford.

Sorry for delay in getting back to you.

The US sent million$ to Russia, so they could destroy their nuclear arsenal.

1. The guy in charge is in custody in Switzerland for diverting most of that money. We want him-Russians don't want to let him go, because he "knows too many secrets".

2. While all this "dis-armament" was going on, the Russians have been upgrading their nucear and BW aresenals.

3. The 2 senators came over on a fact-finding mission, and I suspect somebody in the Russian gov't is really upset with their presence.

4. I'd wait to see what the senators have to say-if it can be made public-before mocking them out.

5. Just by the by- there is some scary stuff going on in Russia and China that isn't even close to bubbling up to the surface yet.(IMHO)
