Not entirely true. "Worst possible outcome for the city" would be a slight move west which would surely destroy the levies. East would've been ideal but directly passing over is second best. Three residents from a nursing home died on the bus ride during the evaculation.

For those interested, there's a somewhat lengthy give and take between various sources discussing predictions of a 'God's judgment' type very devasating hurricane to hit New Orleans due to rampant sin [e.g. immorality voodoo etc--though I don't know all such is mentioend in this particular exchange].

Given that Katrina has developed a very slight wobble in the last few hours (at least, that's what I think I've seen), it's still possible for her to edge westward towards NO.
