We have Hot Spring pools in Oregon.
But here on the coast the pools are clorine.

Well, salt is sodium chloride, so in a way, it's just another way to chlorinate. I'm at the border of my knowledge here, but I'd imagine they have some kind of sand filter (just like my backyard pool has) to trap most of the particulates (bacteria, etc). I think they just pipe ocean water into their pool systems. Cruise ships also have salt water pools, not chlorinated pools.
Saltwater pools make their own chlorine continuously, so you don't have chlorine levels going through the roof on one day and running out on another. You have just the right levels all the time to keep the water clean. They are very easy to maintain -and it's true the water smalls better, and feels much better on the skin than that in traditional chlorinated pools.
