Oops - you are dead on. Power is force times distance per unit of time. But still my "force of my half-ton ass on the couch provides -no- power until the couch is broken" is true.

Yeah, you are correct and made a good analogy. However, having just gone through two acclerated physics classes this summer, I just couldn't let that little detail pass. :)

I'm glad you called my on my lazy-ass lesson ;). I drill my kids on the definitions of force, work and power -- funny to get caught.
