Hurricane Sky

Cloud bellies, looking muscular,
Big knots of corded strength,
Like rippled abs up in the sky,
I studied them at length.

A hurricane sky came strolling,
Along my stretch of beach,
A muscled bit of cumulus,
Just slightly out of reach.

I stared into the cauldron,
The writhing mass at play.
It roiled and folded constantly.
Things could go wrong this day.

The surf was pounding out the steps,
As clouds walked over land.
Somehow I knew that they were not,
Here to just pound sand.

The portents of a message,
Were all quite abundantly clear,
When Mother Nature speaks her piece,
It’s wise to lend an ear.

When I saved those rain drops, I didn't think I would ever use them. They seemed to fit today.

Thank you. I love doing them. Sometimes it is a challenge to get inspired for one, though. I need to concentrate more! LOL!

They take a little time to do; deciding which border to use sometimes is difficult.

At least I'm getting a little faster.

I remember that day, and my looking up at those clouds.

The underside, or belly, of the clouds. They did look muscular and intimidating, haughty, distant, and threatening.

Clouds? Those gentle, puffy creatures?

Oh yeah. They can get right vicious, when their tail gets caught in that wringer!

Hi! I always thought clouds were soft till I went up on my first plane trip and we went through them. They were hard and bumpy! Who knew!

Your poem was very descriptive, made me see what I was reading--I love it!

I've heard that there's more than one way to look at clouds...

Clouds

Soundless giants of the air,
Drifting slowly everywhere,
Softly flowing, gentle flight,
Unseen shadows in the night.

Summer skies of azure blue,
Often hold a cloud or two.
Snowbank castles looking down,
At the lowlifes on the ground.

In Winter skies they do convene,
To cover up our muddy scene.
Some ugliness just has to go,
So then they cover it with snow.

Grazing sheep of soundless tread,
Passing slowly overhead,
Our miasmas upward creep,
To make these gentle creatures weep.
