Yesterday, my family and I attended the pro-Troops, pro-Bush rally in Crawford. We did so because we wanted to show our support for the Troops, for President Bush and their mission.
I also, as an experiment, wanted to compare our observations vs. what is reported in the news. I find it odd that the minute the Pro-Bush, anti-Cindy sentiment could be highly visible, the coverage goes away. Granted, bigger stories have surfaced (Hurricane in New Orleans), but still, given all the time and space and money the Mainstream Media devoted to Cindy Shehan, I would think some obligatory follow up would be in order.
If you are interested in the follow up to this story, here is my account of the rally:
First stop, the Walmart parking lot in Waco. According to the material I found on the Web, Move America Forward and the Protest Warriors were meeting there so they could caravan to Crawford together to the rally. We pulled in just in time to see the participants lining up and getting ready.
What I saw: old and young and everything in between.
Common theme for all: Friendly Smiles and positive attitudes aboun

Good thread! Where is everybody?
Exceptional post and very good reading. Thx very, very much.
Where else? On the Live Hurricane Thread.
There was no excuse for the lack of coverage, even with an impending hurricane. At the time, Hurricane Katrina was still 36 hours away. The media, including FOX, essentially blew off the story. Shame on 'em, especially FNC.
Great Read. Great story.
That "price of gas" observation was pretty on-the-money.
Thank you for the report. Or as Sheriff Andy said in Mayberry - I 'preciate it.
Thanks for sharing your report. You all made a tremendous statement for our nation and for the world! Thanks for being there.
BTTT
Thank you for taking the time to write down the sights and sounds you experienced and posting it. And most of all, thank you for going to Crawford and representing those of us who could not attend. The silent majority's voice was heard and I thank you for that. chena
BTW, BUMP!!
"Sha-ZAYEM, Sher-uff!"
Here are photos of the rally, Crawford, and Camp Casey:

Maybe part can be blamed on Katrina, but I'm guessing just maybe, possibly, the lame stream doesn't want people to know that there are actually American citizens that think the left are hideous, and make them look that way by comparison.
Thank you!!!
I love this. :-)
The other thing I couldnt find: minority participants. Where are the minorities the left is always claiming to represent? Truth is, we were the closest to minority status in this area in that we did not agree with them.
Well, Sharpton apparently arrived for his staged photo op later. Wonder if he'll stay to greet Byrd's old buddies.
I would have to say that the smiles were not quite as forthcoming as in the Pro troops and Bush rally. I did not feel good moods here, unlike the other rally.
Like walking into the presence of evil?
re: Pro Troops/Pro Bush/pro Mission side The people were interesting too. We saw everything: old, young and everything in between. The best way to describe these people are normal. Mood: Happy! Friendly!
Bingo! the soul of America! About time it was represented.
Back to Hippie rally: We looked inside the tent. There were a lot of people sitting down watching the entertainment. It was definitely not my cup of tea. It was, Im guessing, folk music? After watching the whole thing, the only thing that came to mind was hippy hoedown
Baez is supposedly somewhere among them reliving her misspent youth. And of course they think they are 'mainstream'. Cool. They have no idea how they are mocked in the year 2005.
Right when we got to the area, a cop stopped us. Two people from the Camp Casey side ran across the street. They went over to a person that my husband could see pretty clearly, and that person looked very ill. My husband exclaimed theyre having a heat stroke! (We have no solid evidence as to whether or not that is true, but it did look that person was in distress.) Right then, another guy sprinted across the street carrying a bag of ice in order to help the person in distress. Its good to see that are still some people willing to help each other, no matter what may divide them.
Now that is a pretty good story right there.
bttt
Also, look at the file names for the two pictures (war.jpg & peace.jpg)
Looking at the pictures, I noticed the Protest Warriors were thrown out by other Bush supporters. The Protest Warriors are one of my favorite anti-left groups. In my life I have noticed that the older someone is, the less they appreciate sarcasm. So it was probably some older people who misunderstood Protest Warrior intentions. I hope this doesn't happen again.
Thanks for the report and for being there.
