The national guard is rumored to have experimental anti-hurricane weapons. The only problem is they were developed by evil military contractors, so a lot of folks get queasy at the thought of using them.

Gov Blanco looks remarkably inept, and Mayor Nagin looks like a deer caught in the headlights. They clearly did not rise to the occasion and folded. I hope the people of New Orleans and LA will be ok.
AMEN!
So... uh... where are the quotes?
Thanks for the ping! Jeepers...
-"in a poor neighborhood.Say no more...Barkeep, another dauquiri!"
-" Heartbreaking...and sickening. Gee, where's our National Guard? Oh that's right. They're in Iraq...Another dauquiri, please."
-"If it turns out there is loss of life because of the NG being tied up in Iraq in an elective war there will be hell to pay...Another round of dauquiris over here, bartender!"
-"The National Guard exists for emrgencies just like this one...Keep those dauquiris coming!"
-"It's too soon to tell. But we will find out. And if that's the case it falls squarely on Bushitler's evil shoulders and there is another count of impeachment against him. I hate that f*&^#r...DRINK! DRINK! DRINK! DRINK!"
-"Most sickening thing I have ever seen in this country... Where is the f*&^%$g FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? Where's my f*&^%$g dauquiri?"
-"I hate that f*&^#r. So do I. With a passion...Waddya mean you're out of dauquiris? F*&^#'n Bush! Let's try the bars on Bourbon Street."
If both Bush and Cheney were impeached and removed from office, the President pro tem of the Senate would move into the office. He is at the moment Ted Stevens, the Alaska Republican.
If they impeached only Bush, Cheney would nominate another Veep, who must then be approved by majority vote of both houses.
I believe you are correct, except that the President pro tem of the Senate follows the veep and precedes the Speaker. Which is odd, because we traditionally give the president pro tem position to some party hack nobody has ever heard of. At least the Speaker is a party leader, and the position has actual power.
This peculiarity of the Constitution may bite us on the butt someday.
They believe it should rise in the West.
Oh, the humanity.
Lol! I didn't know our president was so darn powerful :-D
