Pets are NOT allowed in shelters. No doubt some people won't go to shelters because of their pets.
That's true, some people won't leave their pets. I think I'd probably be one of them, but I'm not in an evac zone.
If I evacuated, I'd take the dogs with us, and just leave town.
But in our city we finally have a pet friendly shelter. You can bring your animal as long as you bring a kennel/transport cage for them.
